OUR INITIATIVES AND PROGRAMES
Ramadan Observance and Community Support Programs
During the blessed month of Ramadan, we organize the provision of hot meals to fasting Muslims in need by establishing a cookery station where food is prepared prior to distribution.
We ensure that every fasting Muslim receives an iftar meal at the time of breaking the fast, allowing us to uphold the spirit of charity through our seasonal projects in Uganda.
Qurban Sacrifice Program
During the period of Eid al-Adha, in accordance with the principle of animal sacrifice, the foundation undertakes the project of slaughtering animals on behalf of its donors. Additionally, it assists in identifying the most deserving beneficiaries to ensure they receive support through this program, as stated in the Quran by Allah: "Whoever saves a life, it shall be as if they saved all of humanity."
Water Well Maintenance and Community Empowerment
Over the long term, HARO consistently raises funds to repair, maintain, and safeguard local boreholes, water pumps, and wells. A dedicated team of volunteers identifies and assesses damaged, destroyed, or neglected boreholes within underserved communities, facilitating repairs and providing training to empower these communities in maintaining a clean environment.
Orphan Support and Educational Development Programs
Supporting Education for Orphans and Vulnerable Children
HARO has played a significant role in supporting the education of many children, providing opportunities for both religious and secular studies at local and international levels. Our commitment extends to ensuring that vulnerable children receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for the future.
Establishment of a Dedicated School in Eastern Uganda
In 2016, the foundation built a school designed to accommodate 200 children, focusing on Quranic and secular education. This school was established specifically to support orphans affected by the tragic landslide in Bududa district in 2014, which claimed the lives of thousands of individuals. The school serves as a safe and nurturing environment for these 200 orphans, offering them hope and the chance to rebuild their lives through education.
Emergency Relief and Crisis Response
Rapid Crisis Response and Assessment Network
HARO has developed an extensive network dedicated to quickly identifying and assessing situations where aid is urgently needed. This allows the foundation to respond effectively within a 24-hour period, ensuring timely support to those affected by various crises.
Types of Crises Addressed
- Landslides: Providing emergency relief and rehabilitation support to communities impacted by landslides.
- Floods: Delivering essential supplies and assistance to flood-affected populations.
- Hunger: Addressing food insecurity by distributing nutritious meals and food aid.
- Aid to Refugees and War Victims: Offering shelter, medical care, and basic necessities to displaced individuals fleeing conflict zones.
- Diseases and Drought: Supporting health interventions and water provision to mitigate the effects of disease outbreaks and prolonged drought conditions.
Needs-Based Assistance
HARO tailors its aid according to the specific needs of each crisis-affected community, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to maximize impact and support sustainable recovery.
Masjid Construction Projects and Community Mosque Development Initiatives
On behalf of HARO, we are pleased to inform our donors, supporters, and well-wishers that we have successfully constructed 15 masjids in the regions of Sironko, Budaka, Lira, and Arua. These projects have been made possible through the generous contributions of our community.
All funds raised are dedicated exclusively to specific projects, ensuring transparency and accountability. This focused approach allows us to maintain our commitment to charity while building trust and confidence among our donors and friends.
DAWA Initiative
through this program, we set up skilled sheirkhs, teachers and knowledgeable elders to go and teach both Muslims and non-Muslims.
Through this, we have got several converts and supporters.
Income Generating Activities and Economic Empowerment Programs
So far, we have distributed 245 sewing machines to needy widows in Kasese. These widows lost their husbands during the tribal conflict of 2017 between the ruling party and the King's Royal Guards, a violent clash that resulted in the deaths of thousands of individuals. This initiative aims to empower these women by providing them with tools to generate income and support their families, fostering economic independence and resilience in the aftermath of the conflict.
